The issue of interfaith marriages has been a controversial topic in Iran, with Ayatollah Borujerdi taking a conservative stance on the matter. This has led to a reaction from the Iranian youth, who have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Ayatollah's views discussed in his book “Da’irat al-Ma’arif-i Islami” (The Encyclopaedia of Islamic Knowledge). The youth believe that interfaith marriages should be allowed, as they promote understanding and tolerance between different religions. They argue that love should not be restricted by religious differences and that individuals should have the freedom to choose whom they want to marry. Despite the conservative views of Ayatollah Borujerdi, this study investigates how the Iranian youth is being pushed forward for a more progressive and inclusive society that embraces diversity and promotes unity. This study also highlights the ongoing debate on interfaith marriages in Iran and the role of the Iranian youth in shaping the country’s future.
